If you actually read my post, you'd see that I'm talking about rotating assemblies and counterbalances (which are on the crankshaft) "This is because the pistons reciprocate, not rotate with the crank. You can only balance the crank and about half of the rod (the part of the rod attached to the crank is rotating, and can be counterbalanced. The part of the rod attached to the piston is reciprocating and cannot be counterbalanced."
